Diabetes Reversal & Weight Loss Specialist

My story is probably a pretty average one, similar to lots of women.  I was your typical “healthy” woman.  I followed a "healthy" low-fat diet, I exercised regularly and even played soccer most  weekends.  Everything seemed to be fine on the surface.  But slowly and surely, in my 40’s I began to experience joint pain and weight gain.  I told myself it was all part of the aging process.

In 2010, I tore my ACL and landed in physical therapy.  Although my knee fully healed and I got back to exercising, overall my body felt worn out, lethargic, and the number on the scale kept inching up each year.  I didn’t like how I looked.  I didn’t like taking pictures.  (I'd pull my sons in front of me to block my body!)  I wasn’t comfortable at social gatherings, even though I would be smiling and chatting with people.  I tried to love my body, cuz c’mon the average size woman was a 12-14 right?

Then I was blindsided by my doctor on a routine visit.  My bloodwork had shown some serious health issues.  This included pre-diabetes and dangerously high blood pressure.  I was also experiencing digestive issues, hair loss and mood swings.

This news was promptly met with prescription for blood pressure and the recommendation to take Ibuprofen for my joint pain.  After just 1 week of the BP meds, I knew it wasn’t for me.  It made me sleepy and slow.  I knew I needed to find a way to reverse my situation not just manage and mask it.  I needed an alternative solution, and I found it…

The Healing Properties of Proper Nutrition

My “poor health score” led me on a quest to demystify what “healthy food” actually means.  I laid in bed before the kids got up and read NIH articles & scientific studies.  I bought tons of books on nutrition and poured over them.  I listened to podcasts and found inspiration through a stranger’s raw and vulnerable story.  Ultimately, I landed back in school for nutrition.  Very quickly I knew that it was my mission to inspire and support other women to also find alternative solutions to solving their health issues.

The Study of Nutrition

I enrolled in the practitioner's program at the Nutritional Therapy Association and came out as a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner.   But that wasn’t enough.  I also enrolled  in the LowCarb/Ketogenic Nutrition & Treatment for Professionals course through the Noakes Foundation.   All the while, I was losing weight, regaining my zest and beginning to  truly thrive!!  My doctor was very surprised at my quick success in reversing my pre-diabetes diagnosis, and having no more issues with blood pressure.  But for me, it was losing the brain fog, alleviating joint pain and not being so moody with my family, that was the game changer!

 

What I had achieved was truly life altering!  I feel empowered to address future health issues that may arise down the road, and I no longer fear symptoms and rush to the doctor for help. I now completely understand the power of nutrition and lifestyle, and want to help other women transform their own lives.  We all have different Bio-individual needs, and together we will create a specific plan for your own path to health that will be individualized, inspiring, flexible and do-able!
